Tuesday blues

I’m slightly tired this morning. Yesterday was the birthday of one of my friends and hence celebrations were in order, in the form of a meal with lots of laughter and cake. The weekend wasn’t overly restful either so put the two together and there is one tired Kingston Girl sat at her desk. Added to which, I feel like I’m coming down with a nasty cold.

When I sat at my desk, I opened my emails and found a lovely long email from one of my friends who has just got back from 2 weeks in India (by got back, I mean she is now back at her UN post in some war-torn country…), complete with photos of the Taj Mahal etc. And next in line was an email from my brother who is currently on holiday in Brazil. Grrr, I’m jealous now. I’m sat here feeling bad and get to hear about your fabulous trips? Good for you – but please take me with you next time!

Well, I suppose I’ll just have to daydream about my next planned trip out of Kingston – Jazz and Blues is coming up at the end of this month! I’ve got a room sorted, tickets lined up and a flight down booked. And my skin is looking forward to sleeping in some sun in the days.

So – who else is going? Do we need to prefect our secret handshake plan before then?!

I so wanted to go this year but school still cramping my style. I saw the artiste line up and was mouth wtaering all the way. Oh well, I guess there is always next time. I promised myself that after August I will be the world’s best party animal to make up for all the things I missed over these past 5 years. Make some live recordings at the festival and email me nuh…..

Know how you feel about seeing other people’s vacation photos. Very depressing! I’ve been daydreaming about going away too. Doesn’t look like it’ll be happening soon since number one priority this year is buying a new house closer to the city.

Actually I’m not really impressed by this year’s line up so I think I’ll pass. Jill Scott was at BDS Jazz last year and hoping that they’d include her – Then I’d be there.

I see where Anita Baker, Macy Gray going to be at BDS Jazz, I feel cheated 😦

Have eaten lots of fruit, had a good night’s sleep and drunk plenty green teea. Seems to be working at the moment… but will see how I feel after staring at the computer all morning!!

To be honest, whoever performs at Jazz isn’t the main thing I go for – I just love the atmosphere and the cool breeze etc. And of course, any excuse for a weekend out of town!

Must be lonely having so many loved ones away. At least you had and interesting weekend. Mine was filled with work.

leon – thanks for the concern! I guess I’m used to it – the majority of my family lives abroad and always has done and after living abroad myself for a while, some of my best friends are over there. But sometimes I do wish that everyone I loved was in one country!

Well, I’ll be going to Lucian Jazz Fest in May? LOL…If the secret handshake hasn’t been invented by that time, I’ll wear my “Will Blog For Food” tee…:)

Brazil is my 2008-for-my-30th-birthday-trip…where’d your brother go?

I have so many trips I want to take this year that I don’t know how I’ll afford them all…But St. Lucia, BDS Cropover, Japan & Frenchmens in October are high on the list…we’ll see how it goes.
