I’m not very technologically adept… I wanted to add this to my sidebar and couldn’t figure out how in wordpress.

So it is now a post in its own right. It deserves a full post of it’s own. But as other people have written about it in a better way than I could, I’ll just send you there to read it. Or you could visit The Dutch Pots for a bloggers perspective on it…

Ok… when you login to WordPress, there is a menu across the top of the screen, you know, it starts with “Dashboard”, “Write”, “Manage”, and so on…
Well, one of those options is “Presentation”. If you click on presentation, you see a sub menu, which will contain a menu option “Widgets” (at least, you will see that if your WordPress Theme is widget-ready). Click on “Widgets”.
Its likely that you already have some widgets in use already. Drag and drop a text widget to the list of other widgets you have in use.
There is a section on the text widget to the right, it looks like a bunch of lines… double click on that. A window will appear with a title region and a text region. You don’t have to use the title region. If you do, whatever you type there will be in larger sized text.
You can type anything into the text region and it will appear in your sidebar. Text, hyperlinks, image tags. I put &ltbr&gt&ltbr&gt&lta href=”http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/6459521.stm” target=”_blank”&gt&ltimg src=”…/…/…/alan_johnston.gif”&gt&lt/a&gt&ltbr&gtLets keep Alan in our prayers…” into mine and you can see the results at El Toro Loco in the righthand sidebar at the bottom… Hope that helps…

Oops… Oh well, the HTML I put into the comment above didn’t work very well, but basically, you can put in html or javascript or text that you want in your sidebar, and you use the text widget to do it. Email me for more info…
