Big Up

February 15, 2006 at 11:03 am 5 comments

I often complain about work so today is going to be a positive post! I am currently involved in short listing young people who have applied to be part of a programme we are running. And we have had some amazing applicants. There really are some young people out there who are doing great things – they are working hard and making a difference in whatever way they can. Working in their communities, being peer educators, getting involved in big issues that affect them like HIV/AIDS and violence – they are making positive choices.

We frequently talk down our Jamaican young people, complaining about how indisciplined they are, how they won’t work hard etc. It’s true, there are young people like that. But I think that the majority are good people, doing what they can. And there are lots who are not just good, but are great.

So big up to our Jamaican young people today!
