The weekend

Something Good
I went to Hellshire on Sunday and ate too much food. But it’s hard not to – the lobster was amazing, the festival was light and fluffy, and the fish was very tasty. I took 2 American girls who are here working in a school downtown for a month and they thought it was fab. However, we had to accompany them to order their food – otherwise the cost doubled! It was a glorious sunny afternoon and it wasn’t too busy. I didn’t venture into the water… but the child we had with us did and showed us what we were missing by refusing to get out and then showering us with water when he came running up the beach eventually.

There were the usual guys there selling things ranging from jewellery to natural oils for massages, from horse rides to copied cds and dvds. These guys have gone up market now – one of them was walking around with a portable dvd player to prove to people who were thinking about buying his dvds that they really worked!

Something Bad
I was woken up in the middle of the night by 5 gunshots, which sounded like they came from the road directly outside out house. About an hour later, the car alarm went off. And then about 2 hours later, the dogs started to go wild. So all in all, I didn’t get a good night’s sleep! We couldn’t see anything amiss this morning, but we live in a fairly rural community with lots of bush so something could be in there – we didn’t look. I’m hoping that someone saw an intruder in their yard and let off the shots to chase them away, the alternative reasons just aren’t nice to think about.

Hi Kingston Girl-Shoots in the early morning instead of an alarm clock. I think I’ll take the alarm clock going off instead. Man-Hellshire, always some sweet food out there.

Life in the Caribbean, eh? Sweet, sweet, sweet. Then there are the shots at dawn.

Maybe you’re right, and maybe it is someone chasing an intruder with gunshots.
